Chemical Impact
FOOD WITHOUT CHEMICALS
Chemical substances have long been used in the food and non-food industry as means of processing and preservation of the final products that will reach the end consumer. Nevertheless, consumers nowadays are becoming more and more aware of the dangers and risks that chemical procedures and materials pose not only to their health but also to the environment.
The production and consumption of chemical compounds entails hazardous risks for the environment as chemical substances can enter the soil, the air or the water and taint our precious and vulnerable ecosystem. A large amount of chemical compounds leach to the environment as waste materials and destroy directly the physical ambience or pose indirectly risks to human health through their intrusion in the food chain via the soil, water and the living organisms. This phenomenon is called bioaccumulation and has led to severe environmental effects over the past but also present years. In addition the byproducts of heavy chemical production processes affect the environment in a similarly harmful way. At the same time, recycling these chemical compounds and production byproducts is a very costly activity.
CHEMICALS CONCERN
Following the global environmental concerns, at Handary we incorporate all the principles of a viable, sustainable development with respect to the natural resources and the environment. In that context we minimize the usage of chemical compounds and processes and we base our production on the employment of naturally sourced ingredients and pure materials. Our bio-fermentation procedures and our clean-sourced vegetal raw materials ensure that we leave no harmful impact to the environment and we support all the basic values of sustainability and viability.
