Job Description

Handary is industrial leader in natural shelf life solitions, we seek 1 bioprocess engineer to join our production team. The Bioengineer will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and scaling up bioprocesses for the production of food antimicrobials. This role involves upstream and downstream process development, bioreactor operation, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure efficient, safe, and compliant manufacturing processes.

Tasks & Responsabilities:

  • Design, develop, and optimize upstream processes (cell culture, fermentation, media formulation).
  • Operate and monitor bioreactors, ensuring control of parameters such as pH, temperature, aeration, and mixing.
  • Develop and implement downstream processes (cell separation, protein recovery, purification, drying, formulation).
  • Conduct laboratory- and pilot-scale experiments and support process scale-up to industrial production.
  • Analyze experimental data, prepare technical reports, and recommend process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, quality, and safety standards (e.g., GMP, ISO).
  • Collaborate with R&D, production, quality, and engineering teams to bring new products to market.
  • Stay current with advances in bioprocessing technologies, equipment, and scientific literature.
  • Troubleshoot bioprocess and equipment-related issues.
  • Support technology transfer from lab scale to full-scale manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD in Bioprocess Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Microbiology, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with bioreactor systems, fermentation processes, or cell culture technologies.
  • Knowledge of separation and purification techniques (e.g., filtration, chromatography, membrane processes).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
  • Familiarity with process modeling, statistical analysis, or design of experiments (DOE) is a plus.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication abilities.
  • Experience in food, pharmaceutical, or biotech industry preferred.
